How do I calculate unit price?
Divide the price by the quantity: a $19.48 bag with 22 lb of food is $19.48 ÷ 22 = $0.89 per lb. That single number puts a big pack and a small one on the same scale, so you compare what you actually pay for the product instead of the sticker price.
How do I compare products sold in different units, like ounces vs kilograms?
Convert both to a common unit first. This calculator does it automatically within each unit type: weights (oz, lb, g, kg) are compared per oz, volumes (fl oz, ml, L) per fl oz, and counts or pages per item. Weight and volume cannot be converted into each other, so if one label lists fl oz and the other grams, use the second unit most labels print (e.g. 16 fl oz / 473 ml).
Why does unit price matter more than the sticker price?
Because pack sizes hide the real cost. A $9 bag of cat food can cost more per pound than a $42 bag, and a $36 ink cartridge can cost 5x more per page than a $64 one. Unit price is the only number that ranks them honestly — it is the same math we use to rank every deal on OutletPicks.
